Tony Iommi is frequently referred to as the inventor of heavy metal with his trademark riffs powering the legendary Black Sabbath. Having sliced off the ends of three fingers in a factory accident when first starting out Tony switched to very light gauge strings. Butler is noted as being one of the first bassists to use a wah-wah pedal on his bass.
